Divididos

Divididos is an Argentine rock band formed by Ricardo Mollo and Diego Arnedo, former members of the seminal Argentine group Sumo. Divididos is one of two bands that was formed after the death of Sumo frontman Luca Prodan in 1987, the other being Las Pelotas. Ricardo Mollo (guitarist) and Diego Arnedo (bassist) came together with La Sobrecarga drummer Gustavo Collado to form the group La División, which later turned into Divididos. The group released their first album 40 Dibujos Ahí en el Piso in 1989, showcasing a sound that combined the post-punk sound of Sumo with other influences such as folk and blues rock. Shortly after that, Gustavo Collado left the group and was replaced by Federico Gil Solá. Their following album Acariciando lo Áspero (1991) led them to a greater level of popularity, thanks in part to the success of the song "Cielito Lindo," a cover of a traditional Mexican ballad. As their reputation grew, the band began playing at larger venues such as the iconic Obras Sanitarias stadium. Their next album, La Era de la Boludez, (1993) was produced by noted producer Gustavo Santaolalla and featured the hit single "Qué Ves?." The song would eventually become one of their most successful tracks, sending its parent album to the top of the charts in Argentina. Over the following years, they released the more experimental Otroletravaladna (1995), Gol de Mujer (1998), Narigón del Siglo (2000), Vengo del Placard de Otro (2002), and Amapola del 66 (2010). In 2011, Divididos won multiple prestigious Carlos Gardel Awards, including Best Rock Group Album, Production of the Year, and Album of the Year. In 2022, they released their album Experiencia 432 (Bulín Finoli), featuring reworkings of some of their biggest hits.
