Dj Gaoussou

Dj and coupé-décalé singer Gaoussou Doumbiya, aka DJ Gaoussou, was born in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, on December 29, 1962. From 1980 to 2002, Gaoussou Doumbiya tried his hand at singing with the group Wôyô. He was one of the instigators of the Ivorian disc jockey movement, born of the desire to change the ideas of the population of a country in crisis. Gaoussou Doumbiya made his name in coupé-décalé in 2003, and scored a hit with his first single, "Prends mon Gbô". He has released three albums, Moyo Maya (2003), Moyo Mayo 2 (2006) with a more spiritual bent, and "Tournons la page" (2011), which blends a variety of zouk, rumba and Dj influences. Withdrawing from the limelight, he produces artists with his structure Gaoussou Productions and continues to host parties in Ivorian bars.
