Singer with End of a Year and Self Defense Family, Patrick Kindlon formed another project in 2011, Drug Church, with guitarists Nick Cogan and Cory Galusha, bassist Pat Wynne and drummer Chris Villeneuve. Based in Albany, New York, the post-hardcore band signed with independent label No Sleep Records after producing a three-track demo posted online. They then recorded the Drug Church EP in 2012, followed by the Paul Walker album (2013), already well received by critics, as is the follow-up Hit Your Head (2015), whose music and lyrics manage to stand out for their originality. Nashville's specialist label, Pure Noise Records, then lined up to sign the band and release their third album Cheer (2018), still sharp and more melodic than its predecessors. In between confinements during the Covid-19 pandemic, Drug Church released the Tawny EP (2021) and set to work on the Hygiene album, which was released in 2022 and reached #8 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Charts. Released in 2023, the single "Myopic" makes the transition to the 5th album Prude (2024), produced like the previous two by Jon Markson.
