DYGL (pronounced as Day-Glo) is an indie rock band from Tokyo, Japan. The group was formed in 2013 by vocalist and guitarist Nobuki Akiyama, drummer Kohei Kamoto, guitarist Yosuke Shimonaka, and bassist Yotaro Kachi. Akiyama, Kachi, and Kamoto also used to play in the indie rock band Ykiki Beat until its demise in 2017. Shortly after forming, the band traveled to the United States to record their first EP, EP #1 (2015), followed by a second EP titled Don't Know Where It Is, released in 2016 via HardEnough. Produced by The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr., DYGL’s studio debut Say Goodbye to Memory Den came in 2017 and climbed to Number 37 on the Oricon Albums Chart. Two years later, the four-piece returned with Songs of Innocence & Experience (2019), which went to Number 38 in Japan. The album’s success earned the band the chance to embark on an international tour throughout Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In 2021, DYGL returned with their third full-length, A Daze in a Haze. “Sink,” one of the singles from the album, managed to break into the Japanese Top 200, placing at Number 198.
