El Zar is an Argentine duo formed in Buenos Aires in 2014 by Facundo Castaño Montoya (vocals) and Pablo Giménez (guitar). Known for their smooth indie pop stylings, the duo brings a fresh yet nostalgic take on Argentine music. They made a name for themselves through performances at major festivals like Lollapalooza, Nueva Generación, and Rock en Baradero, and in 2017, they won the Bienal de Arte Joven in the music category. Their discography includes two studio albums: Círculos (2016) and A los Amigos (2018), and the EP Pura Casualidad (2020), each showcasing their evolving sound. El Zar has also released a string of popular singles, such as "Perdiendo el Control" (2021), "El Momento Perfecto" (2021), and "El Disparo" (2022). In 2022, they started recording their next studio album in Rio de Janeiro, which they described as the most genuine work they've created. With a full band lineup for their live performances, including Bruno Dante on drums, Nicolás Garay on bass, and Mateo Dafour on keyboards, El Zar continues to shape the indie music scene in Argentina. RIO HOTEL, their third full-length, dropped in 2022, followed by the live LP En Vivo en el Gran Rex in 2023.
