Cathy Guthrie (daughter of folk singer Arlo) and Amy Nelson (daughter of country superstar Willie) met while working together in a San Diego restaurant in 1998 and quickly realised that they had more in common than just famous musical fathers. Sharing a cheeky, slightly blue sense of humour, they set about performing together at parties and writing songs like I Gave A BJ To The DJ, I'm Gay For You and Sh*t Makes The Flowers Grow. As much of a comedy duo as a musical act, their sweet country harmonies and serene strums of ukulele and acoustic guitar were punctuated with tongue-in-cheek lyrics and quirky storytelling on their 2005, self-titled debut album. Both of their fathers appeared on follow-up Reincarnation, and Shooter Jennings (son of country legend Waylon) also featured on their track I Miss My Boyfriend, as the duo honed their barbed tongues and angelic melodies. Alongside the humorous tracks, the duo have also recorded sincere versions of Johnny Cash's I Still Miss Someone, the Elvis Presley hit Long Black Limousine and the Woody Guthrie song California Stars. They returned in 2016 with third album Starf**ker featuring a full band, as well as contributions from Amy's brothers Micah and Lukas Nelson.
