Born on May 21, 1988, in Seoul, South Korea, Park Gyu-ri, known as Gyuri, is a South Korean singer, actress, and radio personality. Making her start as a child actress in 1995 on the television series Today is a Nice Day, Gyuri turned her talents to music, debuting with K-pop group Kara on March 29, 2007 and after a rocky start, the group achieved commercial success in both South Korea and Japan with albums like Step (2011), Super Girl (2011) and Full Bloom (2013). In addition to her group activities, Gyuri lent her voice to the character Kate in the Korean version of the 2011 animated film Alpha and Omega, further diversifying her career, recording "그대만 봐요" (Look Only At You) from the television drama City Hunter in July which charted at number 73, and joining the cast of hit musical 200 Pounds Beauty in October. Over the years, she continued to lend her voice to various soundtracks, including television series, Inspiring Generation (2014), Blade Man (2014) and Korean film Two Rooms, Two Nights (2015). After an extended musical hiatus, Gyuri made a comeback in 2022 with solo singles "Memory of You," "Wave Goodbye," and "Are We Breaking Up Today Like This" and in 2023, teamed up with Kara member Jiyoung, on the duet "My Love," for the SBS political drama Daemul, which reached number 3 on the streaming charts in November.
