Real name Roger Essindi, Happy d'Efoulan was born on December 4, 2000 in central Cameroon. With a passion for music and coupé décalé, he began his career as a dancer in his early teens, before joining a college band called La Fanfare, for which he was chief percussionist. He then turned to mbolé, an urban musical genre born in Yaoundé, where he joined his first group, Les Jokers d'Efoulan, in 2016. He made a name for himself at a number of local festivals, to the point that sound engineer Junior Abega invited him to work with him from 2019. The Jamer's label enabled him to take his first steps in the studio, before signing him to Nsalen Prod the following year, which released his very first solo project, "Tchapeu Tachapeu (Les pleurs du mbolé)". Tchapeu Tachapeu (Les pleurs du mbolé)" was an instant hit throughout the country, and brought him unexpected exposure, even earning him a nomination in the "best hit of the year" category at the inaugural CamerounWeb Awards in 2020. He followed this up with other hit singles such as "Je n'ai rien fait", "Dieu merci" and "La joie du mbolé " in 2021, then "Mama" and "Quand c'est bon c'est bon" in 2022. This year, however, his manager abandoned him for"indiscipline". Making a mea culpa on social networks, Happy d'Efoulan began 2023 with the single "Mapandé".
