Hatik is the stage name of Clément Penhoat (born on November 26, 1992), a French rapper and actor of Guyanese descent who jumped into the spotlight with his Chaise Pliante freestyle series. Hailing from the Yvelines, Hatik started writing rhymes when he was just 16 and released his first mixtape, America 2 - Connaissance et Style in 2014. The following year, he gained notoriety due to his appearance in a remix of Disiz La Peste’s “La Promesse,” featuring Soprano and Youssoupha. His debut EP, Pas la Pire, saw the light in 2017 and was followed by a second mixtape entitled Chaise Pliante (2019). Propelled by the success of the Number 1 single “Angela,” the mixtape featured production by beatmakers Médeline and reached the top of the French charts shortly after its release, obtaining gold certification a year later. Hatik also collaborated with French hip-hop website Daymolition on a series of videos shot in Berlin that were later released as an EP under the name Projet Berlin (2019). At the turn of the decade, Hatik returned with Chaise Pliante II, featuring cameos by Hornet la Frappe, Jok'Air et Médine, and a deluxe edition that spawned the single “Ali." In 2020, the MC made his official debut as an actor on the blockbuster TV series Validé and collaborated with Marseille’s AM La Scampia on the single “Bingo.” Preceded by the singles “Sanstitre,” “Crashtest,” “Mer,” and “Waï,” which reached Number 65 on the French Singles chart, his first album Vague à l'Âme arrived in 2021 and included appearances by Laylow, Tiitof, Meryl, and Kalash.
