Real name Ruben Louis, born in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) on July 10, 1997, French rapper Timal grew up in Seine-et-Marne. He took his pseudonym from his Guadeloupean origins, and began to make a name for himself with videos posted on video-sharing sites. The "Rapport " freestyle series inaugurated in 2016 runs for three episodes, and continues each year with the release of a new number. Between 2016 and 2019 follows another series of eleven tracks, from "La 1" to "La 11". At the same time, other tracks follow, such as "Dans la ville", "Maria" and "Flics et stups", featured on his debut album Trop Chaud (2018), a double album charting at No. 2 and certified gold, including the series behind his fame. In 2019, the track "Story" paved the way for the release of the second album Caliente (No. 2 in 2020), whose seventeen tracks found themselves ranked, including "Ailleurs" with Maes (No. 7), among other duets accompanied by Leto and PLK. Ranked tracks followed in 2021, including "La 14 " (no. 37) and "Fuego" (no. 20), until the release of the third album to reach no. 2, Arès and its sixteen ranked tracks, including "La Beu beu" with Jul (no. 18), alongside other collaborations with Heuss l'Enfoiré and Morad. The following year, the rapper made a name for himself with a new track, "Filtré" , which he recorded with Gazo and reached number one in the French singles chart. In August, he collaborated with Booba on the track "Caméléon" . Timal made a remarkable comeback in 2024 with his EP, Darvaza, which reached ninth place in the French album sales chart. It is led by the single "RR Phantom".
