HIGH4

The South Korean boy band High4 debuted in 2014 with "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossom," a chart-topping dance-pop hit featuring Korean superstar IU. Formed in Seoul by the Korean management company N.A.P. Entertainment, the group included vocalists Alex, Myunghan, Youngjun, and bandleader Sunggu. Hi High, the quartet's debut EP, was released in August 2014 and peaked at Number 14 on the Gaon Alum Chart. Its lead single, "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossom," fared even better, topping the Korean charts and selling nearly three million copies. Co-written by IU and rapper Lil Boi, the song was followed by another Top 40 hit, "A Little Closer," which found High4 collaborating with K-pop singer (and former Togeworl member) Lim Kim. The group issued a pair of Japanese-language EPs in 2015, releasing High Five in February and Hi Summer in July. They also released non-album singles like "Baby Boy" and "D.O.A. (Dead or Alive)" in South Korea that same year, then returned to the Gaon charts in 2016 with "HookGA." Recorded with Hwasa, "HookGA" was released under the name "High4:20," although High4 resumed operating under its original moniker for the band's second Korean EP, Blessed, in February 2017. Sunggu left the group four weeks before Blessed's release, effectively turning High4 into a trio. The group briefly forged ahead as a three-piece before officially disbanding in August, with its members all pursuing side projects.
