iamnot

The Korean rock band iamnot was formed in 2015 and is signed to Gravity Music. The trio consists of main vocalist and guitarist Lim Heon-il, bassist Yang Si-on, and drummer Kim Jun-ho. The band members all attended the same high school and later the Seoul Institute of the Arts, where they formed the rock band Bremen in 2006. After disbanding due to military service commitments, the members pursued music independently before regrouping as iamnot. In 2015, iamnot released a string of singles and their debut mini-album Whoami, which included the lead singles "Psycho" and "Cut." Their first studio album Hope was released in 2017, along with the lead single "Fly." The band's music is known for its blend of blues and rock, as well as its incorporation of various genres including punk rock and EDM. Lim Heon-il's vocal style has been compared to that of singer Yi Sung-yol and is known for its "crunchy low-keyed vocals" and "snarly tone." Kim Jun-ho's "clean high-key voice" complements Lim's vocals. Both musicians contribute lyrics, compositions, and beatmaking to the band's catalog, while Yang Si-on plays bass, piano, guitar, and supplies synthesizers, arrangements, and record production. iamnot has earned critical acclaim for their work, with their debut mini-album being called "possibly one of the most important albums of the year" by Jung Jin-yeong of Herald Economy. In 2018, the band won the Band Award at the 27th Seoul Music Awards.
