Award-winning South Korean singer Jang Yun-jeong (February 16, 1980) is often credited with re-popularizing trot, a subgenre of Korean popular music that originated in the first half of the 20th century. Born in the city of Chungju, she began performing in 1999 but it wasn't until 2004 that she finally made her recording debut with the single "Eomeona!," which shot straight to the top of the Korean charts. The success of the song instantly catapulted her into the spotlight and sent its parent album of the same name to Number 8 in South Korea. Dubbed "The Queen of Trot" by her fans, she has starred in several feature films and television shows and even featured on the popular reality show The Return of Superman with her family. Several of her albums cracked the South Korean Top 10, including Jjanjjara (2005), Later, Later (2006), Twist (2008), and Come (2010). In 2020, Jang Yun-jeong revisited some of her biggest hits on the compilation Best 2020. Estrena, her ninth long-player, appeared in April 2022.
