Born Jean Leclerc on May 14, 1961 in Sainte-Foy (Canada), Jean Leloup is a Quebec rock singer. He took part in the Festival International de la chanson de Granby in 1983, and in the rock opera Starmania in 1986. In 1989, he released his first album, Menteur, on which he scored his first radio hits with the songs "Alger", "Laura" and "Printemps été". This was followed by L'Amour Est Sans Pitié , which went gold the following year. Jean Leloup placed six songs from this album on the Quebec radio charts: the title track, "1990", "Cookie", "Isabelle", "Nathalie " and "Rock'n'roll pauvreté ". Six years later, he returned with his third album, Le Dôme . Once again, he placed five songs on Quebec radio, including "I Lost my Baby" , which reached number one. The following year, he joined the Bran Van 3000 collective. His fourth opus, Les Fourmis , followed in 1998. At the end of 2002, Jean Leloup presented his fifth and, according to him, final album, entitled La Vallée des Réputations . He officially retired on December 19, 2003. In 2004, he dropped his stage name and began a new career as Jean Leclerc. He announced a return to music in September 2005, collaborating with the Porn Flakes on the song "Les Corneilles" . In September 2006, he released his first album under his new name, Tangerine . In April 2009, he released a new album, under his old name Jean Leloup, entitled Mille Excuses Milady. In 2012, he celebrates 25 years in the music business with a show at the Festival d'été de Québec. In February 2015, he releases the opus À Paradis City, with five songs that reach the radio charts in Quebec. The album L'Étrange Pays follows in May 2019.
