Jean Nichol

Born Louis Simoneau, in Windsor (Canada) on December 8, 1944 and died on May 11, 2020, Jean Nichol was a Quebec pop singer. He began his career with the group Les Commander's from 1962 to 1966. He later sang solo in bars under the name Maxime. In 1968, he adopted the artist name Jean Nichol. The following year, he scored his first hit with the song " Oh Lady Mary ", a French adaptation of the play " Samanyolu ", performed by the singer Berkant. The song topped the Quebec radio charts for 3 weeks. He repeated the feat in the 1970s, with five more songs topping the Quebec radio charts: " Lei, lei, lei " for 3 weeks in 1970, " Sans toi " for 3 weeks the same year, " Toi qui n'as pas compris pourquoi " for 1 week in 1971, " L'Amour est une chanson " for 2 weeks in 1973, " Angélique " for 4 weeks in 1974 and " Disons-nous adieu " for 1 week in 1977. He continued his career in the 1980s, releasing new singles, but with little success. In the 1990s, Jean Nichol became a businessman, with several employees at his company. In 2012, he took part in the Le Retour de Nos Idoles tour with Alain Morisod, Ginette Reno, Joël Denis, Michel Delpech, Michel Pagliaro and Renée Martel. In 2013, he launches a new album of original compositions entitled Passion.
