Michèle Richard

Born on April 17, 1946 in Sherbrooke (Canada), Michèle Richard is a pop singer and actress from Quebec. She began ballet and piano lessons at the age of 4. She released her first single in 1953, " Jingle Bell / Cloches de Noël ", with her father, Ti-Blanc Richard. Her first big hit, " Quand le film est triste ", reached pole position in the Quebec radio charts in 1962. The following year, she appeared on several television programs, including Chansons Intimes Avec Michèle Richard, Chez Isidore and Dans l'Bon Temps . That same year, she was voted female discovery at the Gala des Artistes. Michèle Richard had three more number-one hits from 1964 to 1966: " Je suis libre " (6 weeks in 1964), " À la fin de la soirée " (3 weeks in 1965) and " Les Boîtes à gogo " (5 weeks in 1966). In 1966, she received the trophy for most popular singer at the Festival du disque, and was voted Miss-Télévision at the Gala des Artiste the following year. In the 1970s, she scored her biggest hits with the songs " Kiss Me " in 1972, " Baby Love " in 1973, " Un Jour à la fois " in 1978 and " Je survivrai ", a French-language cover of Gloria Gaynor's " I Will Survive ", in 1979. In 1983, she launched a biography recounting the life of her father, Ti-Blanc, mon ami, mon père. In 1988 and 1989, she hosted the TQS television show Garden Party with Serge Laprade. In the 1990s, she became a producer and recorded two albums in Paris: Michèle Intemporelle in 1994 and Je Suis Libre in 1996, revisiting her greatest hits. In 1995, she published a book about her life entitled Être Belle À 50 Ans : Tous Mes Secrets. In the 2010s, she took part in several concert tours with artists from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, including Le Retour de Nos Idoles (2013), La Tournée de Idoles (2015) and La Tournée de Idoles 2 (2017).
