Joe Kingston

Joe Kingston appeared on music platforms on October 20, 2017. With the release of "Mélodie", his first single, the rapper unveils his Afrobeat-tinged trap on beatbysv production. Born in Porto-Novo, Benin, Joel Houenou grew up with a passion for music and discovered Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III album in 2008. As he began producing beats and instrumentals, and writing freestyles, he honed his taste by listening to Young Thug and Burna Boy. Now based in the Paris region of France, Joe Kingston is developing his artistic desires alongside studies in digital marketing. 2018 saw him pick up the pace, with the release of two tracks, "Dedans" and "Papillon", where his style was refined and earned the label of afrotrap, a term popularized by French artist MHD. Determined to make his mark on the French rap scene, the tracks "Coller" and "La Mine" racked up tens of thousands of views, and the artist also appeared featuring Yelsha ("Seul.e") on the Allopop compilation by the La Souterraine collective in 2021. Joe Kingston has not forgotten his native Benin, however, appearing in the video for"Alien", where his sound palette is brought to bear on a drill production, as well as collaborating with Hmrica ("Dormez-Vous"), an artist also of Beninese origin. In 2022, the track "Mapessa" demonstrated his maturity and confirmed Kingston's serious desire to make an impact in the music world.
