Born in 1995 in Garthamlock, a suburb in the East End of Glasgow, Scottish soul-pop singer-songwriter Joesef began sharing clips of his music online before kicking off his professional career in 2019. His debut EP Play Me Something Nice earned him praise for its fluttering, homespun melodies and bittersweet lyrics and his candid approach to storytelling was reflected in the 2019 single "Loverboy." His second EP Does It Make You Feel Good? arrived in 2020 and that year he teamed up with British hip-hop favourite Loyle Carner for the collaborative single "I Wonder Why." His third EP Late to the Party turned up in 2021 and a string of singles followed in 2022—"It's Been a Little Heavy Lately," "East End Coast," "Joe" and "Just Come Home with Me Tonight"—before his debut album Permanent Damage dropped in 2023.
