Born on May 23, 1992, in Tokoroa, New Zealand, musician, singer, songwriter, and producer Jordan Rakei, moved from New Zealand to Brisbane, Australia at three years old before settling in London in 2015. His musical journey began with self-released EPs like Live at Recording Oasis and Franklin's Room in 2013 when he was 21. At 22, he released Groove Curse EP on the Soul Has No Tempo label and gained recognition for collaborating with artists like FKJ and Tom Misch, earning a Grammy nomination in 2015 for his work on Disclosure's hit track "Masterpiece." In June 2016, Jordan Rakei released his debut album, Cloak, under his label 4101 Records, introducing his dance alter ego, Dan Kye, that same year with EP Joy, Ease, Lightness. Moving to Ninja Tune records in June 2017, he dropped second album Wallflower in September, earning a spot in the 2017 Australian Music Prize shortlist, prior to embarking on a North American tour in 2018. The following year, Jordan Rakei teased his third album, Origin, with singles "Mind's Eye" and "Say Something" before its full release in June. Returning in 2021 to curate Late Night Tales: Jordan Rakei in April 2021, he released his fourth album, What We Call Life, in September, hitting number 54 on the UK charts. On October 26, 2023, his track "Flowers" gained global traction, reaching number 57 on Japan's Top 100 JWAVE charts. The song was the first single lifted from his fourth album, The Loop, which was released in May 2024. The album also featured the singles “Freedom,” “Learning,” and “Friend or Foe.”
