Joost

Born on 10 November 1997 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, Joost Klein is known professionally as Joost; a dynamic Dutch rapper, singer, and internet star known for his eclectic musical style, which combines hip-hop, pop, and electronic components often with a tongue-in-cheek twist. Joost first rose to popularity with his YouTube channel, before dropping his debut studio album Dakloos in 2016. He made waves with the 2017 follow-up Scandinavian Boy, which went to number 12 in the Netherlands and garnered a buzz for its genre-blending sound. He followed up with several other albums, including 2018's M van Marketing with fellow Dutch artist Donnie and 2019's Albino, which went to number five in the Netherlands. He continued to catch a buzz with albums like 2022's Fryslân, which reached number four in the Dutch charts, and netting hits like "Friesenjung," which was released as a single in May 2023. In 2024, he was catapulted onto an international stage when he was chosen to represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. His song "Europapa" presented an amalgam of Dutch 1990s club sounds such as gabber and rave. However, Joost was disqualified from the final for reportedly making "unlawful threats" to a member of the production crew.
