Jovanotti

A star in Italy, where he is the undisputed precursor of local rap pop, Jovanotti has also built up a substantial international career. Right from his debut in 1988, he hit number one in Italy with the single "Gimme Five". The same year, he scored his first international hit under the pseudonym Gino Latino with "Welcome". This successful start was crowned in 1994 with the album Lorenzo 1994, which reached number one in the Italian charts. This honor was then regularly bestowed on albums often featuring a mention of the year of their release in their title. This tradition came to an end in 2002 with Lorenzo 2002 - Il Quinto Mundo, as Jovanotti moved towards a pop style with funk and ska influences. A double platinum disc in Italy, Lorenzo 2015 CC appeared on the Billboard world chart.
