Julien Doré

Revealed by the Nouvelle Star TV show, which he won in 2007, composer, musician and performer Julien Doré has made a name for himself with his sense of offbeat cover versions and tender humor, which he has maintained throughout his upwardly mobile career. Born in Alès (Gard) on July 7, 1982, he grew up in Nîmes, studied at the Beaux-Arts and formed the parodic rock band Dig Elvis Up, under the name Julian Golden, in 2002. After the short-lived project The Jean d'Ormesson Disco Suicide, Julien Doré entered the TV talent show Nouvelle star, where his iconoclastic covers of Aliée ("Moi... Lolita") and Nirvana took him and his ukulele all the way to the final, which he won on June 13, 2007. The following year, his debut album Ersatz went platinum and won a Victoire de la Musique award, thanks in particular to the track "Les Limites" and its video. Rapidly gaining in popularity, he doesn't hesitate to surprise with his musical direction. His second album Bichon (2011) features contributions from Katerine, Dominique A, The Shoes, Yvette Horner and Françoise Hardy. In 2010, Julien Doré signed the soundtrack to the film Holiday. Julien Doré's natural whimsy is again expressed on the platinum-selling album LØVE (2013), from which the track "Paris-Seychelles" is taken. After a first live recording and being crowned Male Artist of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique awards in 2015, the album & was released the following year and topped the charts, with the singles "Le Lac", "Sublime et silence" and "Coco câline". In addition to dubbing roles and the series Dix pour cent (2017), a film career opened up for him. The album Vous & Moi that followed in 2018 included acoustic versions of the previous album and a duet with Dick Rivers on a cover of Rose Laurens' "Africa". In 2020, the eco-friendly "La Fièvre " heralded the release of the album Aimée, featuring Clara Luciani and rap duo Caballero & Jeanjass. Julien Doré's 2024 album Imposteur features covers of French pop classics such as Mylène Farmer's "Pourvu quelles soient douces " and L5's "Toutes les femmes de ta vie" . The album also includes duets with Francis Cabrel, Hélène Ségara and Sharon Stone.
