Kalim Schamim, who goes by just his first name, is a German hip-hop performer of Afghan heritage born in 1992 in Hamburg-Billstedt. He started rapping in 2006 and released his first mixtape Where I Live in 2011, followed by Sechs Kronen, which went to Number 30 on the Official German Albums Chart in 2014. His debut album Odyssey 579 reached Number 16 in 2016 and Thronfolger peaked at Number seven in 2017. In 2018, he parted ways with Alles oder Nix Records and signed with Universal Music, who released the albums Null auf Hundert in 2019 and MVP in 2020. The latter featured guest spots by Luciano, Reezy, and Ufo361, and peaked at Number 25 on the German Singles Chart. That same year, he founded his own record label. In 2021, Kalim returned with the single “Pain,” a trap pop banger that hit Number 26 in his native Germany.
