The group Karpatt, formed by ex-Yan and Les Abeilles Frédéric Rollat in 1994, moved into the niche of alternative, cross-cultural chanson with their first album, A L'Ombre du Ficus, in 2002. A mix of bossa and swing fanfare, Karpatt's music travels on long tours from France to Eastern Europe between each album. Having become a quartet in 2009 with the album Montreuil, the group made its first live recording for A Droite A Gauche, released in summer 2010. They reappeared in 2016 with the album Angora, inspired by the Parisian location where the album was recorded.
