Kim Jong-hyeon, born on June 8, 1995 in Gangneung, Gangwon, South Korea, formerly recognized by his stage name JR, is South Korean singer, songwriter, and actor. Renowned as the leader, main dancer, and main rapper of the South Korean boy group NU'EST, Kim was Pledis Entertainment's inaugural male trainee, dedicating three years to his training before making his debut. On March 15, 2012, Kim emerged onto the music scene as the main rapper, main dancer and leader of NU'EST. His journey continued in 2017 when he participated in season 2 of the reality television series Produce 101, securing the 14th position. On February 28, 2022, it was revealed that the contract between the group and Pledis Entertainment would conclude in March, after Kim, alongside members Aron and Ren, bid farewell to the agency, marking the end of their remarkable 10-year career as a group. In May 2022, Kim embarked on a new chapter, signing with Evermore Entertainment as a solo artist, unveiling debut EP Meridiem in November that year, which soared to number 7 on the charts. Following this success, he delighted fans in January 2024 with sophomore release Brilliant Seasons, which charted at number 14.
