Martinique rapper Kima, whose real name is Akim, grew up in a family of artists: his mother, Scéna, is known as Sista Scénario, a dancehall reggae singer, and his father is a musician and producer. From an early age, Kima spent his time in the family studio observing his parents, and began making music himself at the age of 7. In May 2021, he put together his first trap-tinged project, the album La Cour des Grands, which featured guest contributions from Koba LaD, Gazo, Kalash and Dionysian rapper Opinel 21. The album is hosted by the Overseas label that Kima set up with his manager, Tiguere, and producer DJ Ken. In 2022, Kima worked again with Kalash on a track, "Médicaments", then, in 2023, topped up his discography with a new album, Baby Project, featuring Niska on the track " Sosa ". A year later, almost to the day, Kima released a third opus, L'École des Stars, with fifteen tracks. It features contributions from his peers Landy, Jayo, Gazo and, of course, Kalash. On release, the album reached number 79 in the French charts.
