Revolving around older references such as Marie Laforêt, Barbara, Diane Dufresne, Adamo, or more contemporary ones like Pierre Lapointe, Thomas Fersen, or La Grande Sophie, the group La Cécité des Amoureux, claiming a love for the French language and chanson, was born in May 2014. It quickly took its first steps on various Belgian stages and was then made up of Jeff Bertemes (songwriter and performer), Liege-based Julien Hockers (composer and guitarist) and Jean Debry (double bassist), as well as Spaniard Noëlle Elisabeth Grégoire (composer and keyboardist), while the line-up was enriched on stage by the presences of Kevin Mahé (drummer) and Corentin Eubelen (trumpeter). Barely five months after their debut, the band was selected to inaugurate Les Nuits du Soir at the Botanique in Brussels, alongside Sharko and Les Vismets, and went on to perform at the Francofolies de Spa. Critics quickly fall under the spell of La Cécité des Amoureux, and its reputation even crosses the Atlantic, where Quebec radio stations start playing their tracks. In 2018, the band released a four-track debut EP entitled Tout Ça n'Existe Pas, to which Dalton Telegramme contributed.
