La Révolution Française

Born of a mutation of the Sinners in the fall of 1968, Révolution Française is a Quebec rock band made up of Angelo Finaldi, François Guy and Richard Tate. In 1968, they released their first LP, C.Cool, featuring a 22-minute sung monologue on the B-side. In the summer of 1969, the group released a 45 rpm single of the song " Québécois ", which reached number one for three weeks in Quebec. The song is quickly taken up in chorus at independence rallies, and becomes a Quebecois anthem. The song was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018. Under the name Kids, the group released an English-language version of the song entitled " Americas " in 1969. In 1970 and 1971, La Révolution Française attempted to repeat their success with the songs " Le Temps de la révolution ", " Y mouille à sciaux " and a funk version of " Au clair de la lune ". Unfortunately, these songs went largely unnoticed. The group broke up in 1971, and some of the members re-formed the Sinners.
