Le Vent du Nord

Quebec folk band formed in 2002, in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu (Canada), consisting of Nicolas Boulerice, Olivier Demers, Sébastien Dufour and Frédéric Samson. That same year, they met Benoît Bourque and Bernard Simard, who joined the band. Le Vent du Nord released their first album in 2003, Maudite Moisson, which won a Juno award for traditional album of the year. In 2004, Bernard Simard is replaced by Simon Beaudry, who introduces a new instrument to the group, the bouzouki. Their second album, Les Amants du Saint-Laurent , was released in 2005, and was followed by another change in the band two years later, with Réjean Brunet replacing Benoît Bourque. In 2008, the group released its first live album, Mesdames Et Messieurs, recorded at the Festival Mémoire et Racines. In November 2010, they repeated the experience of a live album, Le Vent du Nord Symphonique , in collaboration with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. Four more albums are produced by the band during the 2010 decade, including the Solo project in 2018, which comes from a joint tour with the band De Temps Antan. Following these shows, they recorded the album Notre Album Solo , which won the Félix for traditional album of the year at the first ADISQ gala in 2019. This decade also brings a new member who joins the group on December 30, 2017, André Brunet. In January 2022, the quintet presents their eleventh album, 20 Printemps , marking 20 years in the business. Following their performance at the ADISQ gala in November 2022, the song " Ma Louise " becomes a radio hit in Quebec. It's a first for the group to have a hit on radio platforms in over 20 years in the music business.
