It was in the late 1980s that Francis Ginibre and Eric Carrière formed a comedy duo and enjoyed success under the name Les Chevaliers du Fiel, first locally in their native Toulouse. After conquering the capital, they were spotted by Michel Drucker, who featured them on his shows. It was on this occasion, in 1996, that the duo presented their humorous and slightly saucy song "(Je te prendrai nue dans) La Simca 1000", with Eric Carrière on acoustic guitar and Francis Ginibre on rhythmic noises of all kinds. With their popular, unifying refrain chanted in a cut-throat Gascon accent, they manage to mock any audience, selling over 400,000 copies of their single in just a few months.
