Alexis Lanaras, better known as Lex, is a Greek rapper born in Thessaloniki on September 25, 1984. He started out as a graffiti artist with 2G (Golden Globes or Good Guys), and in 1999 they decided to branch out into music, forming the group North Stars. They released four albums under this name before splitting up to pursue solo careers. Meanwhile, Lex formed Upside Down Hats with fellow Northern Stars member Mikros Kleftis. In 2010, he embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album Ταπεινοί και Πεινασμένοι in 2014, which reached #13 and remains one of the best examples of contemporary Greek rap. Lex continued with the albums 2XXX, ranked #9 in 2018, and in the summer of 2019 gave a concert at the Petra Theater in Athens, where around 10,000 spectators gathered. On October 21, 2022, his concert at Thessaloniki's Kavtanzoglio stadium drew around 30,000 spectators, a record for a rap concert in Greece. The artist, who honors his hometown in several tracks, releases his third album Μετρό the same year, which in turn reaches No. 9 in the Greek charts. In 2024, G.T.K. reached no. 11. Lex's lyrics deal with issues such as the financial crisis, corruption, drugs, the police and petty crime. His style is characterized as anti-poetic, dark and often raw.
