The Japanese rock trio Ling Tosite Sigure formed in Saitama Prefecture in 2002. Vocalist/guitarist Toru "TK" Kitajima, bassist/vocalist Miyoko "345" Nakamura, and drummer Masatoshi "Pierre" Nakano spent several years establishing an unconventional sound inspired by the technicality of math-rock, the complex guitars of progressive rock, and the aggression of hardcore music. After launching their own label, Nakano Records, the bandmates released their debut album, #4, in 2005. An EP, Feeling Your UFO, followed in 2006, with the full-length record Inspiration Is Dead reaching Number 39 on the Oricon Albums chart in 2007. 2009's Just a Moment found Ling Tosite Sigure reaching the Top 10 for the first time, with the album charting at Number 4. Just a Moment also spawned the hit singles "Telecastic Fake Show" and "Moment a Rhythm," both of which were Top 20 hits in Japan. Still a Sigure Virgin? Hit Number 1 in 2010, marking the band's peak on the Oricon chart. 2013's I'mperfect, 2015's es or s, and 2018's #5 all charted within the Top 5, and the band also scored gold-certified Top 10 singles with 2012's "Abnormalize" and 2014's "Enigmatic Feeling." As the 2010s drew to a close, Ling Tosite Sigure continued to tour nationally and record music for multiple anime projects. The digital single "Tatsumaite senno" was released in May 2022 to commemorate the band's twentieth anniversary. The song reappeared one year later on the album Last Aurorally, which charted at Number 9 on Oricon's Japanese Albums chart and Number 8 on Billboard's Japanese Hot Albums chart.
