Synth-pop exponents Little Dragon derived their name from lead singer Yukumi Nagano's habit of throwing tantrums in the recording studio. Nagano's high-maintenance histrionics could explain the band's recording of just five albums in a career spanning over 20 years, but the band's sound, displaying influences from the likes of Prince, A-ha and Janet Jackson, has earned them a worldwide following. Their single 'Twice', a starkly atmospheric, haunting ballad released in 2007, has featured in TV shows such as 'The Vampire Diaries', 'Grey's Anatomy', '90210', 'Revenge' and 'Being Mary Jane'. Following the success of 'Twice' the band toured extensively and eventually found themselves under the patronage of Damon Albarn who engaged the band to play on two tracks of the Gorillaz album 'Plastic Beach'. Albarn later invited the band to support Gorillaz on their Escape to Plastic Beach Tour, an ambitious project which involved 36 appearances across four continents and showcased Little Dragon to a worldwide audience. In 2014 their fourth studio album release 'Nabuma Rubberband' earned them a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category. This was followed by their fifth album 'Season High' three years later.
