Lo Moon

With a brooding, glacial indie-electro sound inspired by acts like The XX, Cocteau Twins, and Roxy Music, Lo Moon formed in 2016 in Los Angeles, California. Frontman Matt Lowell had previously cut his teeth as a singer-songwriter in New York and even released a solo album in 2007, but eventually found himself working in a Brooklyn studio and looking for a band to transform his sound. After he moved to California, demos of his atmospheric synth-pop ballads attracted attention from Crisanta Baker and Samuel Stewart (son of the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart), both of whom joined the project and created a sound that was both electronic and dreamily romantic. With the mentorship and production of Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla, the band debuted in 2018 with the self-titled album Lo Moon. The record's slick sound became a hit in Scotland, where Lo Moon reached number 86, as well as America, where the songs "Loveless" and "This Is It" both reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Triple A chart. Lo Moon's second album, A Modern Life, followed in 2022, with the single "Dream Never Dies" reaching number 21 on Triple A. A third album, I Wish You Way More Than Luck, was released in 2024, earning another Triple A hit with the song "Water."
