LUCKY TAPES

LUCKY TAPES is a Japanese music project led by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Kai Takahashi. Originally formed as a band in June 2014 after the breakup of indie group Slow Beach, the initial lineup included Takahashi, Keito Taguchi, and Tsubasa Hamada. They gained early attention through online releases like "Peace and Magic" and "SUNDAY NIGHT", followed by a limited-edition EP. Their major label debut came in 2018 with the EP 22, showcasing their refined production and genre-blending approach. In July 2023, two founding members, Kensuke Takahashi and Keito Taguchi, left the group, marking a major shift as LUCKY TAPES officially became Kai Takahashi’s solo project. Embracing this transition, he continued under the same name, now focusing on personal expression and creative freedom. In 2024, Kai Takahashi released "ASOBO", his first single in this new phase, signaling a fresh chapter that continues to blend vibrant grooves with introspective lyrics under the LUCKY TAPES identity.
