French rapper Luv Resval was born in Cambrai on January 6, 1997, and was raised in Essonne in Southern Paris. Influenced by American rappers Young Thug and Lil Uzi Vert, he began rapping during his teenage years and kicked off his music career in 2017 with a series of freestyles on his social media channel, which garnered the attention of fellow rapper and future mentor Alkpote. In August of that year, Luv Resval unveiled his first mixtape, ¥ung Life, a joint effort with Alkpote that exposed him to a wider audience. After signing with DJ Kore’s AWA label, Luv Resval teamed up once again with Alkpote on the EP Mariah (2018) and with Freeze Corleone on the single “Crystal Lake” (2019). Also in 2019, Luv Resval released his next mixtape, Luv Kills. 2020 proved to be another collab-heavy year as he worked closely with Caballero & JeanJass (“Sonic”) and Diddi Trix (“Thor”). His highly anticipated studio debut, Étoile Noire (2021), debuted at Number 2 on the French charts and featured guest spots by Kore, Alkpote, Savage Toddy, Josman, Lujipeka, and Chily. “Cete fille,” one of the singles from the album, entered the French Top 200 at Number 96. The year 2022 brought more activity with the release of singles such as “Shadow” and “Shuga” and the arrival of an expanded edition of his debut album entitled Étoile Noire 2.0. On October 21, 2022, Luv Resval died following a serious asthma attack. He was 24 years old. At the time of his death, he had almost completed his second album, Mustafar. In tribute to the fallen rapper, the album was finished after his death and released in May of 2023.
