Youv Dee

Youv Dee, whose real name is Jamal Thioune, is a French rapper, singer and songwriter, born on March 5, 1996 in Gonesse, Val-d'Oise. Originally from Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt and Sarcelles, he is of Senegalese and Martinique descent. Fascinated by Japanese culture, manga and video games, he began writing his first rhymes in 2013 and performed on open stages in Paris. In 2014, he co-founded the L'Ordre du Périph collective with Assy, ARSN and Swan. The group releases the EPs Vogue Merry (2017) and Mugiwara (2018). At the same time, Youv Dee begins his solo career with the mixtape Gear 2 in 2017, followed by Gear 3 in 2018. These projects showcase a style blending trap, punk and emo-rap influences, marked by an energetic flow and sounds inspired by American rap. In 2020, he released two consecutive EPs, Planète Mars and Haine World, produced entirely by Skuna, heralding his debut studio album, La Vie de Luxe (2021). This album explores an eclectic sound universe, integrating trap-metal, Californian punk and electronic influences. A reissue, La Vie de Luxe: Dark Edition, follows in October 2021. On March 9, 2023, he unveiled his second album, Pas d'Accord! confirming his commitment to varied sounds and introspective writing.
