Although he began releasing music in 2018, German singer Malik Harris didn't become a household name until 2022, when he represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest. He was born in Landsberg am Lech, Germany, on August 27, 1997, and began playing guitar as a teenager. "Say the Name," his debut single as a solo artist, was released in 2018, with Malik Harris appearing as a guest on another song, COSBY's "Dust," that same year year. A string of follow-up singles — including "Welcome to the Rumble," "Like That Again," and "Home" — all arrived in 2019, and Harris continued releasing standalone singles like "Faith" and "When We've Arrived" in 2020. His first full-length album, Anonymous Colonist, was released in 2021. Like the singles that preceded it, Anonymous Colonist showcased Harris' diverse skills as a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist. He highlighted those talents once again on 2022's "Rockstars," a song co-written alongside Marie Kobylka and Robin Karow. Inspired by an episode of the American TV show The Office, "Rockstars" entered the German charts at Number 98 and became the winning song in "Germany 12 Points," the country's qualification contest for the annual Eurovision Song Contest. As a result, "Rockstars" became Germany's official submission for Eurovision's 2022 event.
