Mao

Mao, born on October 23, 1977, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese singer and lead vocalist of the visual kei rock band SID. He began his musical journey in high school and later moved to Tokyo to embark on various musical ventures, forming three-piece pop-band Shula in 1999. In 2003, Mao invited Aki, Shinji and Yuuya to form the band SID and together they went on to record 11 successful albums, releasing hit singles such as "Otegami" (2006), "Namida no Ondo" (2007), "Uso" (2009), "Rain" (2010), and "S" (2016). Launching a solo career under the name Mao from SID in 2016, he released "Tsuki/Hoshi," which peaked at number 4 on the Oricon charts, unveiling his six-track debut album, Maison de M, on September 28, which landed at number 8. This was followed by a live album, Maison de M vol.1 in Billboard Live Tokyo, released on March 29, 2017. After a hiatus due to health issues, Mao resumed his solo career in April 2024, releasing the album Habit on May 29, embarking on the MAO TOUR 2024 in June.
