Massive Wagons formed in Lancaster, England, in 2009. Vocalist Barry "Baz" Mills and guitarist Adam Thistlewaite had previously played together in the British band Ace Face, with Massive Wagons offering the musicians an opportunity to explore more hard-hitting influences like hard rock and punk. Fire It Up, the band's full-length debut, was released by Casket Music in 2012, and the group signed with an Ibiza-based label, Off Yer Rocka, after winning a battle-of-the-bands competition named "Highway to Hell" in 2013. Fight the System and Welcome to the World followed in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Welcome to the World proved to be the group's national breakthrough, and its follow-up — 2018's Full Nelson — reached Number 16 on the UK charts. Meanwhile, rhythm guitarist Stephen Holl replaced original member Carl Cochrane in the band's lineup, marking Massive Wagon's first shift in personnel. This revised roster supported Lynyrd Skynyrd on the southern rock band's farewell tour in 2019 and began working on a fifth studio album, House of Noise, which arrived the following year. Released by Earache Records, House of Noise elevated the band to a new commercial peak by delivering a taste of Top 10 success, with the album reaching Number 9 in the UK. A sixth album, Triggered!, followed in 2022.
