The German pop and rock singer Matthias Reim achieved his musical breakthrough in 1990 with " Verdammt ich lieb' Dich". The song stays at number 1 in the charts for 16 weeks and sells 2.5 million copies. The artist was born in Korbach on November 26, 1957. After singing in various bands and working as a composer, Matthias Reim began his solo career. His first album Reim with the single "Verdammt ich lieb' dich" was released in the summer of 1990 and achieved triple platinum status. This is followed by the albums Reim 2, Sabotage and Zauberland, the latter of which is also released in English under the title Wonderland for the Canadian market. The musician is awarded the Golden Tuning Fork several times, receives the Bravo Otto in 1990 and the Ballermann Award in the Lifetime Achievement category in 2011. Following the release of further albums, Matthias Reim achieved further success with the album Reim (2003). The album includes the songs "Ich liebe dich" and "Träumer". Matthias Reim reached number 1 in the German album charts with Unendlich in 2013. The longplayer contains various cover songs by the bands Puhdys, Karat, Karussell and City, such as the songs "Am Fenster" and "Schwanenkönig". The following albums Die Leichtigkeit des Seins (2014) and Phoenix (2016) are also a success. In fall 2019, Matthias Reim released his album MR20 with the songs "Tattoo" and "Karma". The album Matthias follows in 2022 and reaches number 2 in the German album charts. Two years later, Matthias Reim released another studio album, Zeppelin.
