A great voice of French chanson since the 1980s, Maurane (born Claudine Luypaerts in Ixelles, Belgium, 1960-2018) has built up an image as discreet as her respectability is established. Author of the famous "Sur un Prélude de Bach" (1993), "Toutes les mamas" (1989) and "Tu es mon autre " (2002, duet with Lara Fabian), she experienced a slight setback between her 1994 Victoire de la musique and the comeback album Toi du Monde (2000). After reuniting with the jazz trio of her early days HLM, who, twenty years after their first album, recorded Un Ange Passe (2005), Maurane resurrected one of her masters in Claude Nougaro ou L'Espérance en L'Homme (2009) and returned to the forefront with Fais-Moi Une Fleur in 2011. The double volume Carnet de Mô released in 2012 includes her greatest hits and a live album from her recent tour. Maurane then takes on the role of jury member on the French TV show Nouvelle star for two seasons. Returning to song in 2014, she released the album Ouvre, from which the track "Trop forte" is taken. The announcement of her death on May 8, 2018, at the age of 57, caused a great stir in the world of song.
