Maximilian Herre is a German rapper and hip-hop artist who was born in Stuttgart in 1973. He rose to fame as a member of the hip-hop trio Freundeskries who released just three albums between 1997 and 2007, all of which made it into the top twenty in the German charts. Alongside his fellow band members, Don Philippe and DJ Friction, Herre built a reputation as a socially conscious songwriter whose lyrics often highlighted political issues. The band's debut album was the critically-acclaimed 'Quadratur des Kreises' spawning the hit single 'A-N-N-A' which went to number six in the German charts and heralded the arrival of Herre as one of the main players in the burgeoning German hip-hop movement. Freundeskreis effectively retired in 2001 and disbanded in 2007, but in the meantime Herre released his debut solo album 'Max Herre' in 2004 and since then has continued to pursue a career as a solo artist and record producer.
