Mehdi Lekok

Mehdi Lekok, born Mohamed Mehdi Naouassih on August 18, 1994 in Marrakech, is an artist influenced by French and Arabic music, notably Fairuz and Oum Kulthum. At the age of 13, he moved to Casablanca, where he immersed himself in Moroccan rap, particularly attracted by Darija. His career took off in 2018 thanks to a collaboration with NESSYOU. In 2020, he unveils his debut album Times, which includes such standout tracks as "L'ombre de Beausejour" and "Soirée d'été". These tracks illustrate his ability to wield Boom Bap and distill introspective messages with a touch of raw poetry. His style is distinguished by fine wordplay and authenticity, capturing everyday Casablanca through hard-hitting rhymes.
