Born on October 5, 1993, Melanie Dyer's musical journey began in a small town in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia, where she first picked up a guitar and started to write songs about her life growing up on a sheep and cropping farm. This propelled her onto the music scene in 2015, with her debut EP titled Lifetime blending her country roots with pop influences, and drawing inspiration from artists like Katy Perry, Shania Twain, and Taylor Swift. Following that, in 2017, Melanie released her debut album Fresh, featuring the title track that soared to the Number 1 spot on the Australian Country Hot 50 radio chart for five consecutive weeks. Her self-written single “Save My Cents” also climbed to the top of the Radio and Country Music Channel Charts, making her a top 10 finalist in the International Songwriting Competition in 2018. In the years 2019 and 2020, Dyer experienced commercial crossover success with her single “Memphis T-Shirt,” which gained traction on contemporary radio networks like NOVA, SCA, and Grants. It spent six weeks at the Number 1 spot on the Australian Country Hot 50 Chart and earned her an APRA nomination for Most Performed Country Work in 2021, garnering over 2 million streams and 25 million radio plays. In 2022, Melanie released her second album Between You & Me, featuring hit singles like “Run Out Of Road”, “Cheap Moscato,” “Cheating On Me,” and “Dumb Decisions” (featuring Caitlyn Shadbolt), along with the title track, a collaboration with US Artist Troy Cartwright. This album earned Melanie two CMAA Golden Guitar Award nominations for Female Artist of the Year and Collaboration of the Year in January 2023, and was certified gold in September of the same year.
