MiSaMo is an offshoot (or sub-unit) of the South Korean girl group Twice. The group was formed by JYP Entertainment and is made up of the Japanese members Momo, Sana, and Mina. The name "MiSaMo" is a combination of the members' names. The trio's journey began in 2012, with Sana and Momo initially set to debut in a four-member girl group in Japan. However, due to strained Korean-Japanese relations, this plan was halted by JYP. Subsequently, in 2015, all three future members participated in Mnet's competition survival show Sixteen, which resulted in the establishment of the final lineup of Twice. In 2023, JYP announced that MiSaMo was preparing for their debut, starting with a seven-track EP. This included the song "Bouquet," (2023) which was initially released for the TV series Liaison: Children's Heart Clinic. The group's debut showcase began on July 22, spanning five days across Osaka and Yokohama. Their first EP, Masterpiece, was released in July 2023, under Warner Japan. Apart from "Bouquet," the album included other singles such as "Do Not Touch" (2023) and the standout "Marshmallow" (2023) which features a laid-back neo-soul influenced sound. "Marshmallow" peaked at Number 57 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart and reached Number 4 on Line Music's Top 100. Their 2nd EP HAUTE COUTURE was released in 2024.
