Molly Kate Kestner (born on November 29, 1995) is an American singer-songwriter that jumped into the spotlight in 2014 with her viral hit “His Daughter.” An accomplished piano player and violinist, Kestner started her career by performing covers and original material that she uploaded to her YouTube channel for her close friends and family to watch. The video for “His Daughter,” a story about an unplanned pregnancy, accumulated over 2 million views on the video streaming website and caught the attention of several famous personalities, most notably Star Trek actor George Takei and singer Jordin Sparks. Kestner also performed the song on the famous American TV show Good Morning America. The success of her first single landed her a contract with Atlantic Records, with whom she released “Good Die Young” in 2016 as a tribute to the late Prince. The LA-based musician came back in 2017 with the singles “Prom Queen,” “It’s You,” “Compromise,” and “Footprints,” all of which received millions of plays across several streaming platforms. In 2019, Kestner decided to leave Atlantic Records to become an independent artist, releasing “My Way Up,” an uplifting track that combined the singer’s gospel influences with sheer, radio-friendly pop.
