The Turkish alt-rock band Mor ve Ötesi formed in Istanbul in 1995. Şehir, the group's debut album, was released in 1996, followed by albums like 1999's Bırak Zaman Aksın and 2001's Gül Kendine. In the wake of natural disasters like the İzmit earthquake and governmental hot topics like Turkey's use of nuclear energy, the band began to explore political themes in its lyrics. This continued with Dünya Yalan Söylüyor, which reinvigorated the band's career in 2004 and sold more than a quarter-million copies. The single "Bir Derdim Var" appeared in the Turkish film Mustafa Hakkında Her Şey and received an award from the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival that same year. Büyük Düşler followed in 2006, featuring the singles "Şirket," "Küçük Sevgilim," and "Ayıp Olmaz Mı?" Two year later, Mor ve Ötesi represented Turkey in 2008's Eurovision Song Contest with "Deli," a song that led the band to a seventh place vision in the global competition. "Deli" also appeared on the band's sixth record, Başıbozuk, later that year. Masumiyetin Ziyan Olmaz and Gunesi Beklerken appeared in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Throughout the following decade, Mor ve Ötesi focused on releasing stand-alone singles like "Anlatamıyorum" (2016), "Sultan-ı Yegâh" (2018), and "Forsa" (2021). The band then released a full-length follow-up to Gunesi Beklerken, Sirenler, in 2022. The single "Bir Derdim Var" subsequently became a hit, reaching Number 20 on the Top 100: Turquie chart.
