The Australian Christian rock band Newsboys formed in 1985 in Mooloolaba, Queensland. The band's co-founders both eventually left the lineup, with vocalist Peter Furter making his exit in 2009 and guitarist George Perdikis leaving in 1990. Nonetheless, Newsboys enjoyed success as a Grammy-nominated, chart-topping group for multiple decades, thanks to an evolving lineup and a large, dedicated fanbase. Their debut album 'Hell Is for Wimps' came out in 1990. 'Not Ashamed' (1992) was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Rock/Contemporary Gospel Album and 'Going Public' (1994) was nominated as Best Rock Gospel Album. They have had 24 releases on Billboard's Top Christian Albums Chart including 15 in the top ten and six that reached number one including 'Take Me to Your Leader' (1996), 'Step Up to the Microphone' (1998), 'Adoration: The Worship Album' (2003) and 'Born Again' (2010). They have had 30 tracks on the Hot Christian Songs Chart with 12 in the top ten and 'You Are My King (Amazing Love)' in 2003 which topped the chart. Their 2007 release 'Go: Remixed' peaked at number ten on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart, and by the time "Guilty" reached Number 1 in 2016, Newsboys had landed more than 30 Number 1 hits on various Christian charts. The hits continued with albums like 2019's United, which reached Number 1 on Top Christian Albums, and 2024' s World Wide Revival (Part 1), whose single "Heaven On Earth" reached number 38 on the Top 50 Radio Christian Songs chart.
