Nordman

Featuring frontman Håkan Hemlin and instrumentalist Mats Wester, Nordman is a Swedish duo whose music blends traditional Swedish folk music with modern pop/rock. The bandmates first met in 1991 in Hjorthagen, Sweden, and began working together in 1993. Their first single, "Förlist," was released in 1994, went gold in four weeks, and reached the Top 5 in Sweden. Along with the Top Ten single "Vandraren" and the Top 40 hit "Laglöst Land," "Förlist" appeared on Norfman's self-titled debut, Nordman, which hit Number 1 on the Swedish charts and remained there for sixteen consecutive weeks. Nordman eventually went five-times platinum, becoming of one of the most successful Swedish releases of the decade. A second album, Ingenmansland, was released in 1995 and also went platinum, with the single "Be mig" hitting Number 12 on Sweden's Topplistan chart. 1997's Här och nu charted at Number 5 and reached platinum status, too, but Nordman broke up the following year as Hemlin struggles with substance abuse issues. They reunited in 2005, participating in that year's Melodifestivalen competition with the Top 10 hit "Ödet var min väg" and releasing the album Anno 2005, which charted at Number 8. Djävul eller Gud followed in 2008, reached Number 3, and spawned the singles "I lågornas sken" and "Du behöver," both of which hit Number 6. "Om Gud var jag," a single from 2010's Korsväg, also peaked at Number 6. Albums 2014's Patina and 2019's Tänk om both failed to generate radio hits, both Nordman returned to the Top 10 in 2023 with the single "Släpp alla sorger," which was performed as part of 2023's Melodifestivalen contest and hit Number 7.
